Welcome !

Welcome to Troop 44's web site designed to make communication faster and easier for our families. Monthly newsletters, calendars and permission slips are all published here along with a lot of other useful information. Weekly meeting plans are sent to every Scout via email and also posted here.
Troop 44 has been chartered to St. Paul Presbyterian Church since 1972 and we meet weekly on Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:30 PM at the church. We currently have between 20 and 30 registered Scouts and about the same number of adults participating as leaders or committee members.
The site is protected for the benefit of our Scouts. Please use the 'contact us' function if you need more information.

Next Outing, Red Rock, May 17 - 19

Posted on Apr 29 2024 - 5:19pm

Lake Red Rock is Iowa's largest lake with more than 15,000 acres of water and 35,000 acres of land for visitors to enjoy. Located on the Des Moines River just 45 miles southeast, and downriver, of the city of Des Moines, Iowa, the reservoir collects runoff and and drainage from a 12,320 square-mile area in Iowa and southern Minnesota. This protects communities and agriculture lands downstream from the Red Rock Dam. The maximum flood control pool is 780 feet above sea level, over 33 miles long, and covers 65,500 acres.

Galena, April 26 - 28

Posted on Apr 29 2024 - 5:13pm

We wanted to let our parents know that your Scouts did a great job this weekend despite the challenges of rainy weather. We know that some of you were concerned about storms, but given that we knew rain was coming, the timing of it could not have been better. We had a warm, sunny day on Saturday, which made the event much more pleasant, and it wasn’t until we were seated at the restaurant, that a series of training thunderstorms began and those were over in a couple of hours. Yes, we got wet, but no scary storms. Our tents are hanging to dry in the garage, and we will deal with those on Thursday.
